Parents of Saraland High School Seniors,

After monitoring the weather and communicating with the National Weather Service, current predictions indicate Saraland will have a 25% chance of showers at 7:00pm. As a result, we intend to move forward with commencement exercises in Spartan Stadium beginning at 7:00pm. Seniors will begin their procession into the stadium at 6:45pm with the ceremony beginning at 7:00pm. Seniors should report to Redemption Church no later than 5:00pm.

Regardless of ceremony location, a live feed of commencement exercises will be broadcast on the school district Facebook page – Saraland City Schools. After the ceremony concludes, a DVD will be available for purchase.

Since a chance of showers exist, the following contingency plan remains in effect:

Parents and family members, it is necessary that you bring the five (5) tickets issued to your child with you should weather dictate an unexpected move inside due to thunderstorms. As stated previously, should showers occur forcing graduation inside, parents of seniors with last names ending in A-J will present a BLUE ticket to enter the gym and additional spectators affiliated with these families will view the ceremony in the performing arts center through a live video feed. Within 30 minutes of the conclusion of the first ceremony, a second ceremony will be held in which families of students with last names ending in K-Z will also view the entire Class of 2018 graduate. Parents and family members of these students will be required to present a GREEN ticket to enter the competition gym. As during the first ceremony, overflow observers will once again be afforded the opportunity to view commencement exercises in the performing arts center.

We urge your cooperation and understanding as the Class of 2018 graduates this evening. Weather related decisions are very difficult and are always made with safety rather than convenience being our first and foremost priority.

Thank you and we look forward to a rewarding night!

Best regards,

Dr. Aaron Milner, Superintendent

Mrs. Beverly Spondike, Principal
